To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how many agricultural vehicles use the A66 each day between Scotch Corner and Penrith.

No separate data are available on the flows of agricultural vehicles on the A66. Agricultural vehicles are classified as goods vehicles in the national traffic census.

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how many vehicles use the A66 per day from east to west and west to east between Scotch Corner and Penrith.

Mr. Key

The latest available estimates are for 1992. Approximately 8,900 vehicles use this route on average, each day. Of these about 53 per cent.—4,700—are westbound and 47 per cent.—4,200—eastbound.
