To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what assessment he has made of the work undertaken by the transport licensing enforcement officers in Northern Ireland; and if he will make a statement.

This small but dedicated team of officers works very effectively, in occasionally difficult circumstances, to enforce the licensing requirements of both the Transport Act (Northern Ireland) 1967, and the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981. Their efforts are appreciated by the legitimate haulage and passenger carrying operators who are best placed to provide the public with the services which they require in these important market sectors.
