§ Mr. ForthThe average premises-related cost of maintaining a school place is estimated at £179 a year for a primary school place and £298 a year for a secondary school place at 1994–95 prices. The actual cost and the scope for realising savings from removal of surplus places in practice will depend on local circumstances.
