§ Mr. Douglas HoggOur objective remains to secure India and Pakistan's accession to the non-proliferation treaty as non-nuclear weapon states. We continue to encourage both countries to engage in dialogue on regional security, and we support United States proposals to establish a multilateral forum on regional security in south Asia. We have also voted in favour of a resolution at the United Nations which calls for the establishment of a nuclear weapon-free zone in south Asia.
