HL Deb 14 April 1994 vol 553 c98WA
The Countess of Mar

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will instruct the licensing authorities to require manufacturers to define more clearly the early symptoms of the effects of exposure to organophosphorus products such as those of sheep dip flu, in place of their current non-specific health warnings, and to place them prominently.

The Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne

Variations to the conditions of the organophosphorus sheep dip product licences have recently been agreed with a number of pharmaceutical manufacturers. These set out revisions which must be made to operator safety information appearing on product labels and data sheets, including the addition of specific health warnings. These contain the advice that if operators have felt persistently unwell after using a product containing an organophosphorus compound, they should consult their doctors before using the sheep dip product. Marketing literature associated with organophosphorus compounds contains a variety of safety warnings, all of which must be displayed clearly.
