HC Deb 13 April 1994 vol 241 c184W
Mr. Hicks

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what is his Department's policy on the second Tamar road crossing project; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Key

The consultants who undertook a study of a feasibility of the new Tamar crossing advised that a new crossing is likely to be needed by the turn of the century if unacceptable congestion is to be avoided. Their report was published in June 1993 and comments were invited on the four possible routes which had been identified.

I am considering the responses to the consultation before deciding if, when and how the proposal for a new Tamar crossing should be taken forward.
