§ Mr. GaleTo ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what steps the United Kingdom Government are taking to ensure the enforcement, within the European Union, of regulation 91/628, chapter 2, article 31B concerning the transport of live animals.
§ Mr. SoamesEach member state is required to bring into force the laws and administrative provisions necessary to implement directive 91/628 EEC. The directive is implemented in Great Britain through the Welfare of Animals during Transport Order 1992. In the case of contraventions involving trade with other member states, the Government take the matter up as appropriate with the authorities concerned.
