HL Deb 12 April 1994 vol 553 c87WA
The Countess of Mar

asked Her Majesty"s Government:

In what year, by what means and by virtue of which statute they became the United Kingdom licence holder of the cholinesterase reactivator pralidoxime.

The Parliamentary Under Secretary of State, Department of Health (Baroness Cumberlege)

Pralidoxime was first licensed in 1972, when the licensing of medicines in the United Kingdom was instituted pursuant to the Medicines Act 1968. The medicine received a product licence of right at that time, as it had been available for use before the licensing system effected by the Medicines Act came into force. The licence was reviewed, along with all other product licences of right, and was granted in 1991.
