HL Deb 11 April 1994 vol 553 c76WA
Lord Dean of Beswick

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether, in considering codes of conduct and liability for chairman and members of appointed bodies, they intend to rule out measures other than dismissal from office and transfer to another post or body for those found guilty of probity, financial mismanagement, fraud or exceeding their authority.

Lord Henley

The Government are considering whether the approach recommended in the Cadbury Committee's report on the financial aspects of corporate governance could be adapted to meet the needs of public bodies. A wide range of disciplinary sanctions, including, where appropriate, seeking prosecution, are already available to the sponsoring departments and public bodies themselves.
