HL Deb 11 April 1994 vol 553 c73WA
Lord Kennet

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether it has yet established from which air base the four aircraft shot down in the no-fly zone in Bosnia came; of what armed forces the aircraft formed part; what was the nationality of the pilots of the aircraft involved; and under whose orders they were operating.

The Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office (Baroness Chalker of Wallasey)

It is almost certain that the planes were flying from Udbina airfield in the Serb-held area of Croatia. The aircraft are thought to have belonged to the Krajina Serbs. At least one of the pilots has been buried in Belgrade, though their nationality, and under whose orders they were operating, is still not known for certain.
