To ask the Secretary of State for Health what proposals she has for the amalgamation of Newcastle district health authority with North Tyneside health authority.

We understand that the Northern regional health authority is planning to carry out a public consultation shortly on a proposal to merge Newcastle district health authority and North Tyneside district health authority.
