To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what plans Her Majesty's Government has to issue new designs for circulating coins.

Her Majesty the Queen has been graciously pleased to approve my recommendation for a new series of designs for the reverse of the £1. coin. The designs will represent each of the four parts of the United Kingdom and will be adopted in turn during the years 1994–97.
