721WThe Drigg site is owned and operated by British Nuclear Fuels plc and is used for the disposal of solid low-level radioactive waste. It has also been used for the storage of plutonium-contaminated material, a category of intermediate level waste. I understand that the company is planning to move this material to Sellafield for interim storage and pre-disposal treatment. Any such movements are subject to regulation by the Department of Transport as the national competent authority.
