To ask the Secretary of State for Health what consideration she has given to the need for legislation to provide for the suspension of general practitioners from the provision of NHS services.

The Department is currently considering whether there is a need for legislation to provide for the suspension of general medical practioners, in extreme cases, from the provision of national health service services, and the ways in which suspension would be effected.
