To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what plans she has to improve the welfare of broiler chickens.

§ Mr. Soames
The Government's response to the Farm Animal Welfare Council's Report on the welfare of broiler chickens was published in April 1993. The Government accepted that the council recommendations should be taken forward on a Community basis or, where appropriate, used as the basis for revision of the Government's welfare code.
