To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement regarding his investigation into the practice of infanticide, in China and Tibet, of babies born without state permission.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

[holding answer 25 October 1993]: We are aware of allegations of infanticide in China, but have obtained no further information which enables us to relate these allegations to Chinese Government policy.
