HC Deb 27 October 1993 vol 230 c683W
21. Mr. Peter Bottomley

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will estimate the total extra numbers of children and adults who have been injured or killed as a consequence of the use of Greenwich mean time for part of the year.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

It is estimated that total road casualties in Scotland might be reduced by just over 1 per cent. by the adoption of central European time, though the benefits would not be evenly spread with a possible increase in fatal and serious casualties in the northern half of the country.
