HC Deb 27 October 1993 vol 230 c702W
Mr. McFall

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what requirements have been notified to the Canadian authorities by his Department, for additional facilities in the low-level training areas around Canadian forces base, Goose bay for(a) weapons training, (b) electronic threat simulation and (c) air combat manoeuvring instrumentation, for use by Royal Air Force aircraft.

Mr. Hanley

Requests for additional facilities at Goose bay are not made in isolation by any one nation, but are progressed with the Canadian authorities on a multi-national basis, once the requirement has been agreed between user nations. User nations have recently expressed a desire to construct another practice weapons training range with a laser target marking facility, and provide electronic threat simulators. We are not aware of any plans to suggest a requirement for air combat manoeuvring instrumentation facilities.
