To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, further to his answer of 20 July,Official Report, column 99, on the countryside stewardship scheme, what is the cost of the additional payments for open access.

For agreements entered into in 1991 and 1992, expenditure in respect of open access sites under the countryside stewardship scheme is expected to be £565,700 in 1993–94.
