HC Deb 25 October 1993 vol 230 c490W
Mr. Mackinlay

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what arrangements will be made for providing substantive answers to parliamentary questions relating to the Ministry of Defence police after it becomes an agency.

Mr. Hanley

All chief executives of defence agencies are encouraged to reply to Members of Parliament direct, where the parliamentary question covers matters falling within their area of responsibility. The same will be true for the chief constable, Ministry of Defence police. In such cases, the MP will receive a standard reply from the Minister which states that the chief executive will be replying. The Minister's reply, together with the chief executive's letter, will be published inHansard.
