To ask the Secretary of State for Health what proposals she is currently considering for changing the name of community health councils; and if she will make a statement.

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what action she is currently considering in respect of the future status and influence of community health councils in respect of NHS trusts; and if she will make a statement.

§ Dr. Mawhinney
The role of community health councils is to represent the interests of the public. Many CHCs have developed effective working relationships with trusts which they use to carry out this role. We are interested in the spread of this good practice.
