§ Mr. EggarThe proper forum for the discussion of the IAEA's budget is the agency's board of governors. The 401W IAEA general conference in September this year requested the IAEA' s director general to intensify his efforts towards improving the effectiveness and cost-efficiency of the safeguards system. My Government support this initiative and will continue to argue for the provision of resources sufficient for the agency to discharge all its safeguards responsibilities in a cost-effective manner.
