To ask the Secretary of State for Education (1) what criteria Her Majesty's inspectorate are using in its inspections of(a) individual primary schools and (b) individual secondary schools;

(2) what measures Her Majesty's inspectorate are taking to ensure that its criteria for inspecting schools are available to (a) parents, (b) staff, (c) parents of potential pupils and other interested members of the local community and (d) governors;

(3) how the criteria for inspecting schools differ from those used by Her Majesty's inspectorate before the new arrangements were introduced following the Education (Schools) Act 1992.

The arrangements for inspecting schools under the Education (Schools) Act 1992 are a matter for Ofsted—The Office of Standards in Education.
