HC Deb 21 October 1993 vol 230 cc299-300W
Mr. Redmond

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport when he hopes to make a statement in respect of his quasi-judicial role in London Underground Ltd.'s intention to seek closure of the Central line service between Epping and Ongar; and how far negotiations have proceeded to date.

Mr. Freeman

Following receipt of objections to London Underground Ltd.'s proposed closure of the Epping to Ongar service, the London Regional Passengers Committee is to hold a public hearing at Ongar on Monday 8 November, in accordance with the procedures laid down in the Transport Act 1962. The committee will then report to the Secretary of State. The Secretary of State will make his decision on the closure proposal once he has considered this report and any other material factors.
