HC Deb 21 October 1993 vol 230 c316W
Mr. Blunkett

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what assessment she has made of the effects of the Tomlinson proposals to close accident and emergency departments in central London on(a) the London ambulance service and (b) other central London casualty units; and if she will make a statement.

Dr. Mawhinney

Proposals for changes in the pattern of accident and emergency provision in inner London are being considered in the context of the overall changes to London's health services. As part of this process account is being taken of studies carried out by the London ambulance service. Additionally, the London implimentation group is taking other expert advice to ensure the implications of specific proposals are assessed fully.
