HL Deb 20 October 1993 vol 549 c52WA
Lord Bruce of Donington

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they approved of the publication in the European Community's Official Journal (No. C240 of 4th September 1993) at the insistence of the European Commission of a "list of establishments in the Republic of Croatia approved for the purpose of importing fresh meat into the EC" and, if not, what do they propose to do about it.

Earl Howe

Officials in the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food were consulted in advance by the Commission on this decision and were in agreement. The consultation procedure followed was that established by Commission Decision 90/13/EEC (OJ No. L.008, 11.1.90, p70). The proposed amendment to the list of establishments in Croatia approved to export fresh meat to the Community was circulated to member states supported by a detailed report by the Commission Veterinary Inspection Service on their findings at the plants in question.
