HC Deb 18 October 1993 vol 230 c59W
Mr. Redmond

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what changes have been made to the provisions for quick reaction alert air defence forces in the United Kingdom since 1990.

Mr. Hanley

Since 1990, as a result of the reduced number of Soviet/Russian aircraft movements, the number of stations involved in quick reaction alert has been reduced from two to one and the number of aircraft reduced from four to two Tornado F3s. In addition, the reaction time has been extended.
