To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many prison custody officers work at(a) the Wolds prison and (b) Blakenhurst prison.

Responsibility for this matter has been delegated to the director general of the Prison Service, who has been asked to arrange for a reply to be given.

Lewis to Ms Joan Ruddock, dated 18 October 1993: The Home Secretary has asked me to reply to your recent Question about the number of prisoner custody officers at Wolds and Blakenhurst. There are 122 certificated prisoner custody officers at Wolds remand prison and 266 at HMP Blakenhurst.
