§ Mr. Mackinlay
To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what joint consultation exists between the police committee of Northern Ireland police and that force's police staff assocation, and the representative bodies of other ranks at which matters relating to police pay and conditions of service are discussed; what is the membership of the joint body; and on how many occasions it has met in the past five years.

§ Sir John Wheeler
There is no police committee of Northern Ireland police. The Police Negotiating Board for the United Kingdom provides a forum for the consideration of questions relating to police pay and conditions of service for the Royal Ulster Constabulary. Membership of the Police Negotiating Board includes representatives of the RUC staff associations and the Police Authority for Northern Ireland. The Police Negotiating Board meets on a regular basis.

§ Mr. Mackinlay
To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if a Minister from his Department will meet representatives of the Northern Ireland Airport police to discuss the ramifications of(a) the Sheehy report, (b) the White Paper on police and (c) matters of general concern to federation members, which are not operational matters reserved for the Chief Constable.

§ Mr. Atkins
I met with representatives from the Belfast Airport Police Association on Tuesday 7 September 1993, when there was a wide-ranging discussion on the arrangements for the future policing of Belfast international airport. The Sheehey report and the White Paper on police do not affect the Northern Ireland Airport police.

§ Mr. Mackinlay
To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland who serves on the police committee of the Northern Ireland Airport police; and how often it has met over the past five years.

§ Mr Atkins
Northern Ireland Airport police do not have a police committee. The constabulary is under the direct control of the airport management.

§ Mr. Mackinlay
To ask then Secretary of State for Northern Ireland to what extent Home Office police regulations, or those applicable to the Royal Ulster Constabulary, are applied to members of Northern Ireland Airport police.

§ Mr. Atkins
The Nothern Ireland Airport constabulary are subject to regulations established by the management of Northern Ireland Airports Ltd., who have at their discretion implemented similar regulations to those of the RUC.
