HC Deb 18 October 1993 vol 230 c85W
Mrs. Anne Campbell

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what assessment he has made of the health risks passed to Iraqi children as a result of the use during the Gulf war by United Kingdom armed forces of depleted uranium ammunition.

Mr. Hanley

I have been asked to reply.

During the Gulf conflict, British forces used small quantities of depleted uranium ammunition in sparsely populated desert areas of Iraq. This is not considered to have constituted a significant risk to the health of Iraq's civilian population.
