To ask the Prime Minister what is the target reasonable period for replies to ministerial correspondence; and if he will make a statement.

The Prime Minister

Each Department and agency has set its own target for replying to correspondence from hon. Members. The nature of correspondence and case load varies between Departments and between agencies and targets are set to reflect the particular circumstances of each. A table showing performance against targets for 1992 was published on 23 March 1993,Official Report, columns 551–52.

To ask the Prime Minister, pursuant to his answer of 13 June,Official Report, column 317, when he now expects to be able to reply to letters of 8 February, 31 March, 4 May and 21 June from the hon. Member for Lewisham, Deptford.
