HC Deb 30 November 1993 vol 233 c421W
Mr. Alex Carlile

To ask the President of the Board of Trade what percentage of electricity generated in Wales is attributable to wind power; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Eggar

As at 30 September 1993, the installed electrical capacity of wind projects in Wales commissioned under the first two orders of the non-fossil fuel obligation totalled approximately 86 MW, representing about 1.2 per cent. of the total electrical installed capacity of about 7 GW in the Principality. The proportion of electricity actually generated by wind in Wales will depend on a number of factors, including the performance of the non-wind plant.
