HC Deb 30 November 1993 vol 233 c455W
Dr. Lynne Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for Health who is responsible for training for key workers in their duties under the care programme approach; and how this will be funded.

Mr. Bowis

Health authorities, national health service trusts, local authority social services departments, and private and voluntary organisations involved in the delivery of mental health services, are responsible for ensuring that those members of their staff likely to be identified as key workers are trained in their duties under the care programme approach. Best professional practice is covered in pre-registration training courses for mental health professionals, which are funded centrally or regionally. Employing agencies meet the costs of any post-registration training they consider appropriate.
