To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what is his policy on the future of the WE177 free-fall nuclear bomb in relation to the introduction of the Trident submarine.

Mr. Hanley

We plan on exploiting the flexibility and capability of the Trident system to provide the vehicle for our sub-strategic deterrent when the WE 177 eventually leaves service.
