HC Deb 29 November 1993 vol 233 c365W
Mr. Cummings

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence (1) what winter apparel has been issued to date to British forces serving in central Bosnia; and if he will make a statement;

(2) when the British forces serving in central Bosnia will be issued with Arctic kit including special warm clothing during the winter; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Hanley

Issues of winter clothing to British troops in central Bosnia commenced on 14 November 1993. The majority of troops have been issued with winter clothing items including cold weather caps, arctic gloves, wristlets, arctic socks, face masks, Norwegian shirts, wet weather boots and cover-ails. A delay in issuing winter clothing to a small percentage of the troops has been experienced due to the closure of the route between Split and Vitez. The route has now been reopened and all troops have now been issued with the full complement of winter clothing.
