To ask the Secretary of State for Transport when he expects to publish the orders required for the fixing of a date for the public inquiry into the proposed route of the West End, Bisley and Knaphill bypass.

A date for a public inquiry into this scheme cannot be fixed until the council has submitted revised orders occasioned by the deficiencies found in its original application.

In the light of the worsening disease situation in the south-west of England we are reviewing the current badger control strategy and hope to make an announcement shortly after careful consideration of the views expressed by the consultative panel on badgers and bovine tuberculosis at its meeting on 18 November.
