HC Deb 25 November 1993 vol 233 c162W
Mr. Raynsford

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many residential properties are owned by the Metropolitan police; and how many of these are currently empty.

Mr. Charles Wardle

I understand that, as at 31 October 1993, the receiver to the Metropolitan police district owned 2,241 residential properties for police purposes.

A total of 323 were leased to housing associations and 148 were vacant. Of the 148 vacancies, 69 were allocated to officers who had not taken occupation; 34 were vacant for sale on the open market; 29 were vacant and available for allocation; and 16 were vacant for building works.
