To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what sanctions exist for breaches of the nuclear non-proliferation treaty.

Mr. Hanley

There are no formal sanctions associated with breaches of the nuclear non-proliferation treaty. Alleged breaches may be considered on a case-by-case basis by the United Nations Security Council.
