To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many patients are being treated in NHS trust hospitals are from countries outwith the EC; what are the funding arrangements for these patients; and if she will make a statement.

This information is not available centrally. The National Health Service (Charges to Overseas Visitors) Regulations 1989 require overseas visitors to pay for NHS treatment unless they fall within certain exempt categories including people with communicable diseases and people from countries with which the United Kingdom has reciprocal health agreements.
