§ Mr. KeyFor the 12 months to September 1993, there were 896,000 new car registrations in a company name, 51 per cent. of all new car registrations in Great Britain. Registrations in a company name include hire cars and company cars not available for private use.
The Inland Revenue estimates that about 1.8 million employees in the United Kingdom are currently taxed on the private use of a company car.
