HC Deb 05 November 1993 vol 231 c518W
Mr. Llew Smith

To ask the President of the Board of Trade what support was given to the rationalisation of inspection responsibilities between the International Atomic Energy Agency and EURATOM, in the United Kingdom submission to the 37th IAEA general conference of 27 September.

Mr. Eggar

The United Kingdom has supported the initiatives which are now in hand to improve the cost effectiveness of safeguards and attaches particular importance to the rationalisation of inspection responsibilities between the agency and Euratom. Considerable progress has already been made with the new partnership approach. We look forward to the successful completion of current negotiations on the new partnership approach and will continue to urge its full implementation as soon as possible.
