To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is his Department's estimate of the total volume of tax credits issued by dividend paying companies in each year since 1985.

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer how much cash was repaid to domestic investors by the Inland Revenue on the basis of dividend tax credits in each year since 1985.

[holding answer 3 November 1993]: Payments of tax credits to United Kingdom residents cannot be separately identified from repayments of income tax. Total income tax repayments and payments of tax credits are given in table 2.10 of "Inland Revenue Statistics" 1993.
