To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the damage done to lobster creels by seals.

While I am aware of reports from Scottish fishermen that seals have damaged their creels, my scientists at the marine laboratory in Aberdeen have not investigated them in view of the practical difficulties of obtaining firm evidence of how the damage was caused.
