§ The Attorney-GeneralDuring the 12 months ending June 1993, the CPS did not proceed with cases in respect of 191,622 defendants in magistrates courts, and 8,500 defendants in the Crown court.
These figures comprise all such cases in the 13 CPS areas, but do not include the specialised casework undertaken by the headquarters of the service.
