§ Mr. Michael Forsyth[holding answer 2 November 1993]: The private finance initiative, which was announced in the 1992 autumn statement, is an important tool which will lever private finance into the public sector. Although the Department has, as yet, no projects which have attracted private capital, we do keep these matters under review to ensure that the Department provides the best possible value for money.
