HL Deb 03 November 1993 vol 549 c121WA
Lord Brougham and Vaux

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will now take further action to redress the adverse consequences for landowners of the introduction of livestock premium quotas, in the light of the resolution passed by this House on 18th October 1993.

The Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (Earl Howe)

Her Majesty's Government have done all they can do within the powers given to them by EC regulations. The nature and extent of those powers is currently the subject of judicial review proceedings in the High Court. Her Majesty's Government will reconsider the position in the light of the outcome of those proceedings but in the meantime no further action can be taken.
