HC Deb 03 November 1993 vol 231 cc219-20W
Mr. Cousins

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what dedicated in-patient provision has been made for the treatment of HIV/AIDS; at which locations such provision has been made; and what additional in-patient provision she expects to make.

Mr. Sackville

This information is not available centrally. Funding for the treatment and care of people with HIV and AIDS is included in the revenue funding allocated to regional health authorities each year. Regions and health districts then determine the type and level of service provision in the light of local needs and circumstances.

Mr. Cousins

To ask the Secretary of State for Health (1) what capital investment has been made, or is committed, into the HIV/AIDS infectious diseases complex at Newcastle general hospital; and when any new or refurbished facilities are expected to open;

(2) what were the capital and other costs associated with the Scids immune deficiency unit at Newcastle general hospital; how many patients this unit is expected to treat each year; and when it is expected to open.

Mr. Sackville

This information is not available centrally. The hon. Member may wish to contact Mr. Crute, the chairman of Newcastle health authority, for further details.
