HC Deb 03 November 1993 vol 231 cc275-6W
14. Mr. Riddick

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what assessment he has made of the effect of the outcome of the GATT negotiations on the conduct of European Community business.

Mr. Heathcoat-Amory

The European Council last week underlined the real economic benefits a positive outcome would bring to the Community in our efforts to restore growth, raise competitivity and reduce unemployment. Heads of Government underlined their commitment to reach a global, durable and balanced agreement this year. The Commission is working strenuously to this end.
