Mr. Gerrard

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) how many(a) Ghanaian, (b) Nigerian, (c) Bangladeshi and (d) Indian nationals who applied while in the United Kingdom to remain as working holidaymakers were refused in each of the last five years;

(2) how many (a) Ghanaian, (b) Nigerian, (c) Bangladeshi and (d) Indian nationals applied while in the United Kingdom to remain as working holidaymakers (i) in 1992 and (ii) in the first six months of 1993.

(2) how many (a) Ghanaian, (b) Nigerian, (c) Bangladeshi and (d) Indian nationals who, having applied at British high commission in their own countries, and been granted permission to enter the United Kingdom as working holiday makers were later readmitted for a further period for the same purpose in each of the last five years.
