asked Her Majesty's Government:

What action has been taken, and what action they propose to take, to fulfil their obligation under Article 42 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child "to make the principles and provisions of the Convention widely known, by appropriate and active means, to adults and children alike."

Copies of the convention have been sent to all local authorities, health authorities and National Health Service trusts. A booklet on the convention aimed at the general public was published earlier this year. It has been distributed to a wide range of organisations. Copies are available free of charge from: Benefits Agency Purchasing and Supplies, Health Publications Unit, Storage and Distribution Centre, Heywood Stores, Manchester Road, Heywood, Lancashire OL10 2PZ. Other government: departments are making their own arrangements for publicising the convention. A copy of the booklet will be placed in the Library.
